Leza Harrison
Awarded in
Leza Harrison started what turned out to be a lifetime affair with water skiing at the "old" age of 20 when she took a PE course at Rolling College and first learned to get up on a pair of combos. She quickly acquired the skills to become a member of the collegiate ski team and started competition, which led to an amazing career that is still going strong after more than 40 years. After receiving a physics degree at college, she juggled a 26 years career as a NASA engineer while continuing to compete on a world-class level. Leza has been a U.S. Team member at multiple World and Pan American Championships, and compete at the Masters. She has won the National overall title an amazing 30 times and the Correct Craft Ski Nautique Award, given to the skier with the hightest overall score in any division at Nationals five times. At one point, she won the overall title 12 consecutive years. She has 134 Nationals medals, including 91 golds. Leza currently holds jumping and slalom national record in her age division. She holds a Sr. Judges rating and has been somewhat of an innovator, being the first woman to design and dig three connected man made lakes with different orientation, do a reverse toe side slide, run two trick passes on one ski, and wear an arm sling in jumping.
