Leanne Brown
Honored in
Growing up as a young girl who didn’t like skiing in rough water, Leanne has now succeeded at the highest level of the sport in Ski Racing. Leanne is the only person to have won three consecutive World Ski Racing Championships. Her initiation into the ski racing world championships was in 1991 in Darwin where she finished with a bronze medal. A determined Leanne followed this bronze with three consecutive Open Women gold medals in 93, 95 and 97. On the water Leanne was a superb athlete; off the water she was an outstanding ambassador, mentor, coach and promoter of the sport of water skiing. Leanne was an advocate for the sport, acknowledging the skill sets of competitors from all facets of water skiing. She was honoured to be appointed the first Australian Water Ski Federation Marquee Athlete, representing the sport at government, commercial and sporting seminars. Leanne gave freely of her time to improve the sport and to encourage young skiers to work hard to improve their skills and to always have fun doing it.
