Oscar started barefoot water skiing in 1971 and was very active in learning the finer arts of the sport.. In 1979 Don Mixon Sr introduced him to members of the US barefoot team and to witness them training for the forth coming world titles in 1980. At that time Oscar learnt barefoot boat driving and judging and became heavily involved with the administration of the sport of Barefoot Water Skiing.. He was a Board Member of the American Barefoot Water Ski Club for 18 years before migrating to Australia in 2003. Until now, for 26 years Oscar has been an official of the World Barefoot Council and involved as Secretary for 2 Chairmans,writing the Safety Manual, quizzes and the World Rules. He has previously been the USA open team Manager for 8 years and Coach /Manager of the USA Junior team for 2 years. Oscar also operated a ski school “Florida Water Sports’ for 12 years and at that time also helped develop the X Games and Gravity Games. Oscar has been responsible for the introduction of the Fibreglass barefoot jump,development of the non stretch ropes, the Super high fly,and Leaders and Toggles, not to mention introducing first ever Barefoot coaching clinics into Japan, Taiwan, China,Korea and Indonesia and coached the Chinese Barefoot Water Ski Team at the World Games.. At World Barefoot Competitions he has been Chief Judge, Assistant Chief Judge,Judge,Tournament Director ,Homologator and Member of many Local Organizing Committees. At the World Games he has also been the Chief Judge. Oscar Mann has devoted his life to the development of Barefoot Water Skiing World Wide.
