The USA Water Ski and Wake Sports Foundation awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to young water sports athletes nationwide. And this week, we're announcing even more scholarships!
The AWSA National Overall Scholarships are awarded annually at the Goode Water Ski National Championships to the overall winners of each of the Boys and Girls Divisions. Some of these water skiers may be years away from college, but they are already winning and saving for their education.
The Foundation will hold the scholarships in escrow until these young people attend the college or university of their choice.
Reese Townsend of Gilbert, Arizona, won the 2024 Girls 2 National Overall Points Award and the $2000 Brenda May Worden Girls 2 Scholarship. Reese won slalom and tricks and placed second in jump to win that title.
She will graduate from high school in 2030.
Ricky Davis of Milford, Virginia, won the 2024 Boys 2 National Overall Points Award and the $1000 Boys 2 Scholarship.
Ricky won the tricks event and placed third in slalom and jump to win that title.
He will also graduate from high school in 2030.
Ricky and Reese competed in the U12 age division at the 2024 U.S. Water Ski National Championships at Ski West Village near Bakersfield, California.
