Bode Bulfer and Alexia Abelson are the 2024 Boys 3 and Girls 3 AWSA National Overall Scholarship recipients. The scholarships are awarded annually at the Goode Water Ski National Championships to the overall winners of each of the Boys and Girls Divisions.
The USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Foundation holds the scholarships in escrow until these young people attend the college or university of their choice.
Bode Bulfer of Northfield, Minnesota, won the 2024 Boys 3 National Overall Points Award and the $1000 Lake City, Minnesota/Ralph Samuelson Commemorative Boys 3 Scholarship. This scholarship is funded by Ralph Samuelson's hometown and the Birthplace of Water Skiing, Lake City, Minnesota. Ironically, Lake City is just a few miles away from Bode's hometown of Northfield. Ralph would be so proud of him!
Bode won jump and tricks and placed second in slalom to win that title.
Alexia Abelson of Holderness, New Hampshire, won the 2024 Girls 3 National Overall Points Award and the $2000 Gus Johnson Girls 3 Scholarship. This scholarship is funded by Kelly Li Johnson.
Alexia won the trick and slalom events and placed second in the jump event to capture the overall title.
Alexia and Bode both competed in the U14 age division at the 2024 U.S. Water Ski National Championships at Ski West Village near Bakersfield, California.
